Isn't it surprising what you can find at a wildlife centre! Good exposure and detail, and I like the close-up framing. I agree it does look like pasta.

What a stunning shot, Fizz. The colours are amazing and it makes a wonderful abstract pattern shot. Sorry can't help with idenification.

Hi Siobhan,

Lovely macro shot, the light is nice and soft with well controlled highlight and shadow....well done!

As for the ID, I'm not sure but it is a Perizoid species, and I think it is either:
Octospora rutilans (though I think it has got the time of year wrong!) or Aleuria aurantia, the Orange peel fungus. I'm quite willing to be proved wrong though if anyone else has any other thoughts!
