Double Tulip

By flowerpower59
Firstly, to those who viewed, voted on and awarded my last image, a big Thank You.

This is an image from last year which didn't do it for me, mainly because of the colour (I didn't like the combination, see variation) but after a recent comment from Sharon (swilliams71), I reviewed the work of Imogen Cunningham and was inspired to try a black and white flower. I am blinded by colours and am useless at spotting tonal variation, so was surprised and delighted when this emerged. I really like it Blush Thank you Sharon!

I think then that it's a joint UA for you and Sharon... Wink
I love mono flowers, they have a cool, aloof dignity, sort of Greta Garbo 'I vant to be alone', (rather than Mae West 'Come up and see me.')
Does that make any sense???

It absolutely makes sense and I am sorry to say I am usually in the Mae camp, but you never know, that could be changing (pigs might fly!Grin)

Yes I was surprised too when I saw various (mostly tulip) images converted to mono
and see how well it works!
Nice work here Fiona.
I too love colour and find it harder to recognise an image I can convert!
I'm only so glad I am able to reciprocate the feedback Fiona!

A fabulous image in BNW and colour. I sometimes struggle with solo tulip images because of the intensity of their colour and their solid form. To be able to edit this in monochrome is a feat and it really draws you into detail and delicacy of the petals that is not apparent in colour. Very well executed!!

I always try my flower studies in mono to see if they work... sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Yours definitely does.
I've tried a mod... cropped, and a different style of conversion. I hope you like it.

Its very difficult to get a good flower mono but you have succeeded here. I do like the colour version as well.

The mono is so much more attractive in this instance. I like your lead and also the higher key mod by Alan. Two very different moods and both excellent.
