Fernando

By foggytwo
I have been very busy lately so I would like to thank everyone for their support and comments.

We had a flood that would make old Noah proud.
Now I`m talking `bout water all over.
By the time the downpour had come to an end.
The garden looked like the strait down by Dover.
It was after the storm had abated.
And water levels had started to drop.
I heard a strange noise by the birdbath.
That sounded to me like a plop.
Now with my middle name being Sherlock.
And the garden in such of a state.
I crept over there in me wellies.
Over what looked like the old Bering Strait.
When I reached there, to my shock and horror.
For there in the corner it sat.
All soaking wet from the water.
And twice the size of me cat.
He told me his name was Fernando.
And he had been washed out of the bog.
Somehow ended up here in my garden.
So here he is... Fernando the frog.
As frog`s go he was really a belter
The biggest one I`ve ever seen.
And on asking me for directions.
Said he`d prefer a spot all wet and green.
I offered to take him down to the canal.
But the question was one of transport.
`Cause the quickest way to the canal.
Was round the back of the old tennis court.
As I`ve said he was a big fella.
So to help him I got him a box.
And in order to make it more comfy.
I put in an old pair of socks.
But the box that I brought didn`t fit him.
He sat there with legs in the air.
I was sure that I would have managed.
If only he didn`t have such a large pair.
Determined to get Fernando back home.
Said he came from a place called Nantucket.
And that gave me a brilliant idea.
Old Fernando would go home in a bucket.
Once filled up with water, Fernando jumped in.
He moved around creating some foam.
The smile on his face brought a tear to my eye.
At last Fernando was on his way home.
He thanked me as I emptied the bucket.
Last I saw he was sat on a log.
And to this day, I still sit and wonder.
If Fernando found his way back to the bog.
