Lochgelly Lupin.

By foggytwo
This wee story could have started with "Once upon a time" as it happened once a long time ago when fairies were abundant in the forests and wondrous magical events took place.

On Halloween night a few years ago.
Whilst heading for old Castle Kelly.
Situated in the Kingdom of Fife.
Where I stopped for a rest in Lochgelly.
Now being a stranger in these here parts.
And a bed for the night as my aim.
I stopped a young local asking the way.
Ending up going the way that I came.
Back to the junction before turning right.
Up a side road surrounded by farms.
Twas then that I spotted a far distant light.
I was nearing the Lochgelly Arms.
Out of the window I glanced to the right.
When I saw it alongside the car.
Something was dancing through all the trees.
Of a brightness as bright as a star.
It darted round and over the car.
Each time hitting and causing a whack.
No way out of this one, I thought.
On this road I could not turn back.
When I finally reached the Lochgelly Arms.
The light went as fast as it came.
On telling this tale to the landlord.
Said he knew it and also it`s name.
"Aye you`ve encountered the Lochgelly Lupin.
Aye and tonight is the night it appears.
Ever since old Andy the gardener.
Cursed it way back through the years".
"Since then on the night of each Halloween.
The Lupin has took on this glow.
It roams the towns and fields of these parts.
Frightening all who come and who go."
After downing a nightcap,I went to my room.
Settling down with intent to watch telly.
The Day Of The Triffids was all that was on.
And so ended my night in Lochgelly.

Loved the Lochgelly ditty , only thing I knew about from Lochgelly which which whacked people was a thick leather strap used by teachers in the good old days!
Like this creative Halloween image and ditty, very well done
