Old Age.

By foggytwo
Old age doesn`t come on it`s own.
It sort of creeps up on you.
You know when you`ve reached your prime.
When your in line for the jab for the flu.
Whilst watching the telly, you get up and go.
You walk into a room quite content.
You stand there a minute, think to yourself.
Trying to figure out just why you went.
The hair it gets thinner as it starts to fall out.
The eyesight and hearing go too.
You go to bed after your cocoa.
Then your up half the night at the loo.
Those pills prescribed by your doctor.
To be taken each day without fail.
Have side effects that make funny noises.
That score ten on the old Richter scale.
The joints get stiffer, you cant rush anymore.
You make noises when you bend over.
So while you are down there, before you get up.
You may as well clap little Rover.
When outside you cant walk unaided.
The pub for a pint is your aim.
You hope for the seat in the corner.
With the recess for your zimmer frame.
Heading home full of beer and all happy.
You have a seat on a bench for a smoke.
Hoping to get home for your cocoa.
Without falling or having a stroke.
So here in this verse, you have the facts.
That I have given you on this page.
`Cause this is what could await you my friend.
When you`re crept up on by that thing called Old Age.

what a fabulous picture and the poem fits so well and sadly we can all recognise the signs Smile

Like the dates in my diary are now appointments with medical team
The glint in my eye is the sun hitting my glasses
and having climbed the ladder of success, I find it is leaning against the wrong wall
