The Gift.

By foggytwo
I got this card a couple of years ago and put this verse to it, I hope you enjoy.

All the present`s delivered.
Another year of fun.
Back home again to Mrs. Claus.
For some turkey and a bun.
"Off with your coat", said Mrs. Claus.
"Or Santa you`ll catch cold.
The elves will tend the reindeer.
Their blankets, they`ll unfold".
The elves picked up his great big sack.
It didn`t feel quite right.
"Santa, come and have a look.
This wont wait until tonight".
Santa opened up his sack.
And had a feel around.
Put his hand into the corner.
Could not believe what he had found.
He pulled it out and there it was.
A present in his hand.
All wrapped up in christmas paper.
Straight from wonderland.
What made it worse was the fact.
A child`s, somewhere was this.
For the present didn`t have a tag.
The name, it was amiss.
"Oh Santa,Santa, said Mrs. Claus.
"What are we going to do ?
We must get it delivered.
Before light in an hour or two".
Santa thought, then had an idea.
"I know, lets go through.
I will ask the fairy on the tree.
She`ll know what to do.
The fairy asked to see the gift.
She studied it real well.
`Cause the only one who could open it.
Was the child, asleep under a spell.
"I think that I can see it now".
Said the fairy with delight.
Quick, go and get old Rudolph.
He`ll get you there tonight.
So Santa and Rudolph both set off.
And faster they did go.
They set off over the roof tops.
Through the blinding snow.
Finally they reached wee Tommy`s room.
He was lying there in bliss.
Santa put the present on his bed.
Bent down and placed a kiss.
Then off they shot, it was almost dawn.
They got home just in time.
All the presents` delivered once more.
For a jolly Christmas time.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too Pete. Just like Santa you always deliver. A fine festive verse for us all to enjoy, the perfect tonic for a cold winters night. It looks like the Borrowers are trying to go off with someones present! ho ho ho!
