Guineafowl and young in our garden

By fotobee

This is a photo of a Guineafowl and its young taken in our garden. I was very fortunate to get it, for, as soon as it heard me, it vanished into the undergrowth. You can see the start of my "wild patch" which is directly in front of the Guineafowl, and which is composed of "weeds" and various seeds, obtained by planting the left overs of our parrot food seedbowl by scattering the contents of this this willy nilly, and raking over to aid germination. I have started this instead of continuing with my Rose garden, and am amazed by the results obtained. The seeds are maturing now, and serve as a food source to all the wildlife in the area. This contains snakes, tortoises, and all kinds of birdlife, and amongst others, the Guineafowl who have started breeding nearby in the yard, and is where the parents bring them to feed on the various seedheads growing here. It is amazing what a small area can do for them.

Thank you for looking at, voting for and the comments I received on my Dragonfly photo. This is all very much appreciated !

Have a wonderful day !

Best regards
Martin
