winter trees

winter trees by jordachelr

I like the colours on this, and the simple but very effective composition. I'd love to see a black and white version as I think it would bring a different feel to the image.

The conversion to mono really makes the shot - specially bringing out the detail in the sky. I agree the footprints add foreground interest and aren't intrusive for me.

The light on the trees makes them stand out against the sky. There's a real sense of depth. Great.

I like the choice of shutter speed to capture movement in the water but retain texture and detail.

Lovely, simple composition. Great detail on the fenceposts.

The Worm

The Worm by Mari

Hi Mari.

Great shot. I like the almost metallic reflections in the wet sand, the colour of the sky and those brooding clouds. The low viwpoint and wide angle makes it all more dramatic.

Happy New Year.

The walk back from the shop

I think this captures the mood of the last few weeks very well. Great choice to use black and white. The figure in the background adds depth to the whole image.

I like the simplicity of the composition.

Made me laugh Gerry, even after 3 years!

I like the strong tones and bold shapes of the clouds. Great reflections too.

I did wonder if a crop to remove the snow might make a difference, but then you lose the rock slightly right of the centre and I find that quite a strong element in the image.

Ben Nevis

Great viewpoint - superb sense of scale and distance. I would straighten the horizon, but that's a minor point.

I agree with the above - the footsteps give a sense of scale and they balance out the small tree in the upper left. I like the simple but strong composition.

I prefer v1. I like the reflections and the way you've caught the darker, moody clouds and sky.

Stonehenge 2

Stonehenge 2 by mark2uk

Lovely shot. Can I detect a subtle green colour on the stones (or is it my rubbish works monitor)? I like the way you have the stones sitting in the landscape.

I prefer your previous upload only becuase it makes more of the shape and texture of the stones.

Stonehenge by mark2uk

I agree with Jon. The snow seems to have picked out the texture of the stones and you've captured that well. Black and white works for this.

Seagull Calling

Very unsual pose - without the leg it could be upside down. The panoramic format works well, too.
