Special stoat day..

By Fred263
Thanks for your clicks, comments & votes to my previous image for which I'm most appreciative

My images of the Stoat were taken at BWC, Lichfield, Surrey about two weeks ago with Lillian & friends. We will be revisiting next Saturday so if you would like to join us for some great photo opps, please PM Lillian or myself.

The stoat is a small, but highly agile climber & strong swimmer capable of crossing large rivers. They appear to never stay still for a moment so I was fortunate to get these images. They can be found all over the British Isles & are known for eating birds eggs. Although brown in summer, they sometimes turn pure white in the winter, except for the tip of the tail, which remains black. The fur is then called ermine and sadly used to be highly prized for trimming ceremonial robes see v2. Also, they are persecuted by gamekeepers who claim they are protecting their game birds. The numbers of stoats in the wild is usually linked to the rabbit population but their numbers have been in decline in recent years.
v2 is my offering for s.Sunday.SmileSmile

Thanks for looking & have a great day.

A very suspicious look and then sniffing the air to make it sure. A fantastic set and very unusual captures, Fred. Well done!
