+ve: Great colours and composition.

-ve: DOF could be a little wider. I think the crop needs to be shifted a little to the left and down as you have more space behind the frog than in front of it - the way it is facing. The downward shift (placing the frog higher) will place it on a third line too which would be better in my opinion. Loads of potential.

thank you all for your comments.

Lauren - i agree with you about the crop, unfortunately that is as far to the left as i could get it, as there was a rather intrusive pink flower there. there are out of focus leaves below and to the right that don't look right left in. Just a chance shot - the only one i got cos they kept moving away quickly to hide. well - i do have one other shot, just it's nose poking out from the undergrowth!! LOL!!

Ah ok, I didn't think you'd have done it on purpose. Then I'd crop a bit more off the right and top instead to balance it up just a smidge. Was this at Bristol too?

I think everyone above has summed up my thoughts. You, on the other hand, seem to enjoy it so much as a learning curve that I actually relish your answers.

All I can add is, What a wonderfully cute shot. DOF is good as it centres on the eye. Framing a touch off but overall a very good piece of work. Well done

RE: cropping - just have to concentrate on the amount of the space around the subject. Basic rules apply that it works well on third lines (esp where third lines bisect each other) and there should be more space in the direction the subject is looking.

Bought a season ticket to zoos now? LOL!
