Thank you very much everyone for all of your comments. I have lots of other images from the same session, I will choose another and see what I can do with it. The lady wants an image to use for PR purposes, so I was trying to create something dramatic, but I think that you are all right about having eye contact.

Willie: the diffuse glow is what I was after thank you for pointing it out to me, it's a tool I've not used before.

Phil: I think you are right about giving her something to look at, I was quite taken with making the image symmetrical when I cropped it, but I think you are right.

    Thanks again,

Thanks for your comments. I think that you are both right, although I got the blur I wanted, the boy's expression needs to be happier.

Moe_101: photography is so subjective that your comments are as valid as everyone elses Wink

DRicherby: thank you for taking the time to make the adjustments. I like the addition of the catchlight in the eye.

Will try this again soon, and try to get him with a big grin on his face next time.

I love this picture, especially the way her weather beaten face is lit from the side and the way the fine strands of her touseled hair billow over the doorway.

    Thanks for your feedback, Catherine.

Funny you should think it's Constable-like, as it was taken in Suffolk, less than 10 miles from Flatford Mill. Good guess, maybe it's something about the quality of the skies there?

I'd really wanted to get more foreground interest too, but I had to work quickly, as the light went a minute or two after this shot.
