About
I first became interested in photography in my teens. A Saturday job at a well-known supermarket financed my first SLR, an Exacta VX1000. I converted the spare bedroom into a makeshift darkroom and spent many happy hours developing and printing. I even took an O' Level in Photography when I was 16. At university, I was lucky enough to meet and take photos of many well-known Bands for the Student Union Newspaper (The original Sun).
After University I upgraded to a Nikkormat. Unfortunately, work, mortgage, children etc. seemed to be more important than photography and the Nikkormat and subsequent replacement spent most of their time in a dark cupboard.
A few years ago I bought a Nikon D80 to take on a trip to Egypt. I really enjoy digital photography I can take zillions of frames and simply delete those that I don’t like, unlike the days of real film where you were limited to 36 frames and a two week wait for D&P
It is said that practice makes perfect. Unfortunately, this is untrue. Practice alone condemns you to making the same mistakes again and again. It is practice plus constructive feedback that makes perfect. As you can see, I am not the most creative photographer and would greatly benefit from constructive feedback!!
