Utah, Western USA. Grandparents came from Manchester, a bit of Scottish blood mixed in with Welsh on the other side.
Love the diversity of this site but find myself thinking EPZ lingo at times - very weird for someone born and raised in the US!

I'm hoping someone will advise as I have similar frustrations with my limited knowledge. Yes/no answers or simple one or two words would be a godsend! Thank you, Steve, for asking (pleading?!).

Buy another pricey camara on HIS credit card, keep it in the trunk of your car for just such emergencies, use second camara to take pic of him in some weak moment, post in on the fridge to remind him that no one is perfect...

Found this site through BillMA, a member. I think he found it through browsing. I've told many people way over here in the US and they all love it - some just to browse, some have become members and dropped out, others click on often to look at my pics. Love the site myself, I've learned so much. Thanks for being there!

I personally think B&W is THE most interesting photography off this site. However, online, I check out whatever catches my eye, usually a big variety of different things.

It might also be handy of having an option of "return to my portfolio" rather than just "return to readers gallery" when mucking around in your own portfolio. Do have to add, though that I really love all the new perks on e2!

'the winner is not a regular contributer to the site, that just seems to enter comps'
"Very observant of you - I hadnt even noticed, but I just had a look, and youre right! So, what do we think of that, then...?"
Well, that intrigued me so I had a look as well - do you notice that it's true for two of the top four? What do we think of THAT?!- Made on What happened to the 'Yellow' competition

I love e2 and its worth the bucks to support the site but those on US dollars should hurry because the 19 turns into 38 US dollars on conversion - don't know how much that translates when its going to be 29!

Nary a puff since August of 1997 - although I still love the smell and sometimes wish I could, I dare not - one single puff and I wouldn't be able to say I haven't had a puff since August of 1997. Good luck, cold turkey and iron will is the best way!

From across the sea - then what DOES count as a view?
This stat seems to confuse everyone, including me! If one goes in, looks at a picture, clicks, then comes back later to browse, looks again, remembers they have clicked does that count as two views? Or is it different members viewing each time?

Good egg for sure. If you can't make PM you certainly have enough votes to come over here and replace Bush - please do! Actually, the humane delimma vs the picture is not all that easy of a choice as I've noticed people tossing rocks, luring with food, and being intrusive in sensative nature areas to get a picture, so good job.

Adding my two bits I just want to say that I learn not only from much appreciated comments and critiques on the photos I upload but on browsing through other portfolios. I would hate for some to be archived or deleted. Self moderation in uploading seems to me to be the best option - as a newbie to the site I go in streaks of uploading, realizing I have nothing worthy of uploading, gaining more confidence and then uploading again. Since I've been a member its been one upload a day - I am now trying to just upload a couple of times a week or, gulp, sometimes not at all in a week. Thanks for listening, love love love this site!

I agree with Pete that something needs to be done and several a week sounds reasonable to me...some will use it and some won't, same as now with the daily upload. I find that if I forget I've already uploaded that day due to being across the ocean (!!) I get that little automatic reminder saying no way - and this works well. I'm trying to devote my last 1/2 hour or so (okay, hours)looking at pictures and commenting now. Just my two cents worth...Jan

This all sounds very interesting but difficult. If one is an absolute beginner, what is the best approach? Learn the complicated way or stick to unsharp whatever? Please advise.....

Good lord, thank god none of us are anywhere...the world needs help. I'd rather be isolated here in EPZ, except that I'm not here and neither are you. Did I mention that you can't buy alcohol in Utah in the grocery stores or anywhere because its evil but you can buy it at the State-run store so what does that make the State??

Well, among all the very weird laws we have here in Utah is one that says that you can't turn your horse and cart around on main street on sundays so the mince pie law makes perfect sense. but I don't actually know anything about mince pies because I'm not here now and have never been here.
