Artist Paint Pots is a small thermal area just south of Norris Junction in Yellowstone National Park, USA. A one-mile round trip trail takes visitors to colorful hot springs, two large mudpots, and through a section of forest burned in 1988.
The morning this was taken was cold, and the hot springs and mud pots boiling away gave a misty, etheral feel to the burnt pine in the foreground. The sun breaking through gave fleeting colours to the misty air.
