Summer Bugfest

By LynneJoyce
A bumper upload after my previous paltry effort (for me). This is a celebration of the Bumper Bugfest Summer of 2013, so good that I even managed to get a butterfly!

V1 shows a Burnet moth newly emerged from its cocoon and images of the moths actually emerging are found in V2 and 6. Details of this process can be found here:-

http://www.bonnyfieldlnr.org/burnetmoth.html

The rest are an assortment of creatures taken in Newcastle in my mother-in-law's garden (the Hoverflies and the spider) and Chesterfield. I would love the have an I/D for the beasties in versions 9, 11 & 17.

I have lots more bug images from this Summer but for your sake confined my post to a mere 17. I hope that you enjoy at least some of them.

A truly fantastic set of images, Lynne, absolutely fabulous. Only sorry I have given my UA today, or it would definitely have been yours. For me, V.11 is the winner, what a cute chappieSmile We have a similar beetle to the one you want ID'ing, but it is red and black. Carol

A stunning set of macro shots! I don't know why you say you can't do them? For me its v3 that has the real "WOW!" factor.

I wouldn't normally give a User Award as it could be construed as nepotistic, but these are so good especially my favourite that for once a rule is there to be broken.

Your presentation always delights me Lynne no matter what the subject.
I love the emerging Burnet in 2 & 6 and of course the freshly born in V1.
The butterflies 4 & 13 are beautiful - are they ringlets?
V8 and V9 appeal to me for compositional reasons.
Excellent work Lynne.

A bugfest indeed, Lynne, and a pleasure to view them all. V15 is my favourite.
Funny the things you never forget. When I lived in the New Forest and first encountered these white cocoons with black insects coming out of them, I thought it was really strangeTongue.

I wonder who holds the record for posting the most uploads Lynne ? I can recall someone posting 24 but I suppose someone can beat that.I was a bit surprised with your four before as I know you usually go for a bumper upload.A bumper one to be sure here. The star of the show for me is V11 for the colours and hairy detail. All well presented as usual.

Gosh, what a cornucopia of bugs; again with so many I'd be hard pressed to select a favourite, but having scanned through the lot, and although each is worthy of posting on it's own, the two the catch my attention are V 2 b/o the stage it's at and V 11as the subject seems to be crawling on skin (?).
