This is a fantastic image! It is something I haven't tried yet but when I do if it turns out half as good as this I will be overjoyed!!

Great subject matter to help carry the image and the light painting is inspired!

Top shot - just love it!

Nice lot of space at the top for the title - think this could be another cover winner Gary!!!!

Great shot. I can imagine its hard to get right. Do you need to take a few exposures to get the centre of the stars in the right place?

A great image. Looks like its worked very well especially as you say that this is your first attempt.
I like the way you have illuminated the underside of the capping stone. Stunning. Smile

for me this is probably your best work ever mate, and that is saying something coming from a gallery that is consitently high. Utterly brilliant and if this doesn't get EC or whatever they want to call it nowadays then it will be an injustice.

I can't praise this work highly enough mate

Thanks a lot everyone Smile

I took a few 4 or 5 min test exposures at the start to help find Polaris Andy. So it sort of determined my composition.

Been thinking of having a try at something like this for a while, but it's always too cold!!!

Fantastic shot, patience and effort put in alone are worthy of praise.

Could definitely see this as a book cover or something similar.

Amazing work Gary, a true testament to your skill and love of landscape photography. Where you using a cable release for the bulb exposures? Great idea painting the under-side of the Dolmen, very creative. Was that Proleek by any chance?
Very well done. Danny.

Wow wow wow = some envy because I read up on how to do a shot like this where you trail the stars. I have not had the chance to try out this tecnique.
I actually saw most photos like this but with the north star behind the object. But actually can say that this is great with the North star away from the stones because it gives a strang sense of direction towards the North star.
Really well done. I hope to find the opportunity to do a photo like this.
Insiration. Thanks

I echo everything that's been said already. This is one of the best star trails that I have seen. Was there a moon that night that lights the ground and dolmen with you adding the light underneath with the torch?
I've got a couple of subjects in mind in my local area and would love to get even slightly close to this quality!

David, the light on the ground was lights at the end of a driveway leading to someones house. i was out in the countryside and didnt think that i would have a problem with street lighting but i think now it actually adds to the overall effect.

Danny, it was Ballykeel Dolmen.

Pretty amazing stuff. Not sure how I missed seeing it in the galleries as I love star trail images. Really should get myself out one weekend while we still have the long winter nights.

Well worth every second of effort you've put in to this one.
