Jani's Orange

By GavMc
This is a second image from one of the orange groves that lie amongst the fairways of the Cortijo Grande golf course near Turre in Almeria, Spain. I titled it "Jani's Orange" because Jani, my brother's fabulous girlfriend, was with me when I took this shot; its also among her favourites of my photies.

Following on from the advice I got from my last post Ive cloned out some of the blemishes on the orange, which I agree now looks more aesthetically pleasing, if not quite so rough and ready!

Ive done little else to the image apart from adding the frame.

I do like the result, especially how the orange and its leaves are sharp, and the other trees in the grove and mountains are nicely blurred. As a bonus there are a few fallen oranges blurred on the grove floor. I think that the strong blue sky contrasts well with the vibrant oranges and greens.

Thanks for looking..

Hello Gavin, nice balance of light and colour to your orange.

Gav, This is a million times better than the last orange you posted! The last shot didn't seem to work. I think the biggest improvement in this shot is the composition. You've set it in the organe grove. We can see fallen organges (out of focus) on the ground. The green background with the band of blue running across the top looks good. Better saturation in the colours as well. Works far better than the last shot. I bet it tastes better too! Wasn't sure what to say about the last one so didn't comment. Now that I can see the two, it's easier to compare! John

Thanks for all your comments everyone..

John: you're right, its much easier to see where I've gone right/wrong once I can make a comparison, and you've got all the reasons why this post is so much more effective.

Nice shot, it gives a good flavour of the area, including the mountains in the background, well captured,

a deceptively simple shot that is done very well.

the bright orange is the source of a strong composition - colourful as well.
