The 'atmosphere' is well captured here. Very thought-provoking indeed.

Great shot that's a little on the dark side and I don't mean as in light and dark!
I reminds me of the barbaric ECT treatment (Electric Convulsive Therapy) were the poor patient would be strapped down to the table with electrodes attached to their head and then electric shock pulses passed through their brain frying their brains. After most would be left in a zombi state for the rest of their lives. This though made them easier to control, i.e less staff required on the wards.

"Convulsive therapy is the deliberate and controlled induction of a seizure or other disturbance of brain function for the purpose of psychiatric treatment. Convulsive therapy attempts to produce this state artificially and under controlled conditions, on the premise that seizures can induce improvement in the patient's mental state once the patient recovers. Ha Ha".

Thank you, David.
This institution is said to be the most haunted place in Norway. The treatments used in this institution was highly experimental and the people they were used on was sometimes not even mentally ill. They used electroshock, drugs such as LSD and between 1941 and 1959, almost 400 persons was lobotomized here and most of them being wide awake during the procedure. Being inside there now, one can really feel the heavy atmosphere. It is not a very 'joyful' place Wink

Very well exposed, again. The sepia toning suits it.

Nice dark shot of a frightening looking room.

The treatment is still used, just shows how little we have advanced.
The first official figures for ECT to be released for eight years show 2,800 people in England and Wales were given the treatment in the first three months of 1999.

My uncle received this throughout his life and never recovered.
