Well, it's Monday once again and that's another busy weekend over - I know that we all complain about the weather in this country but Friday and Saturday were awful down here in the far flung west. So What ! I hear you cry, it's the same for us all. Well I reckon that the bad weather has cost me about £300 in lost wages as all sport was cancelled on Saturday and I was supposed to photograph a kids BMX meeting on Friday that also went west, the point that I am making is that that has now gone and I'll never get that money back - but that's one of the perils in this job - football and rugby tend to go ahead in all weathers but cricket - forget it !! and it cost me three games on Saturday. However, the sun shone for the county match yesterday ( Cornwall v Shropshire in Truro) - so we have got some action for the paper this week. And I also have to admire the brave souls who took part in the 24 hour Relay for Life for Cancer Research on a cliff top (well almost !) in St Agnes over Saturday and Sunday, many of who were cancer survivors, well done to them all, including the ones who were walking at about 3 in the morning when it was blowing a hoolie and pouring down, They had raised over £23000 with more money coming in, which is just brilliant, my pics were OK as well considering the wind and rain.
Still, most of my other jobs went ahead, it's such a shame that many take place indoors due to the uncertain weather but hey, that's an English (Cornish !) mid-summer. I hope that it's OK tomorrow as I have a PR shoot down at St Michaels Mount with the cast of the Hall for Cornwall's panto this year, it involves boats and scenic shots of the cast so let's pray for sunshine and no wind ! I let you know who the stars are as it's a secret at the mo'. And yesterday I also had to photograph a rally of about 25 Mitsubishi Evos at a local dealer to launch the new model, personally Evos and Suby Imprezas don't do much for me as I prefer proper sports cars ( like classic Morgans and MGs ) but they did make a nice noise when they all pulled away from the garage.
Must go, have several hundred wedding pictures from a few weeks ago to put onto a CD for a client just back from honeymoon and I've still got to watch last night's Top Gear on Iplayer as I was trying to work and catch the football at the same time !!
Have a good week fellow EPZ ers and have a thought for us poor sods who have to make a living even when it's peeing down !!
See ya later in the week
