Lucky escape by geoffrey baker
There's a waist high concrete wall between them and the sea so even though they would have been covered by some waves they wouldn't have been washed into the sea, it's the ultimate storm experience I guess.
The Lifeboat station is right behind them and some of their staff were out there too I'd imagine.- 26 Feb 2018 3:50PM

Storm Watchers by geoffrey baker
They were soaked, I'm envious though, it must have been wonderful to experience a storm from within like that- 24 Oct 2017 1:58PM

Posted on: Two new cameras for the Sony Alpha range
Yeah, they're painfully slow aren't they?, Sony seem to be concentrating on beginners a lot, there's a whopping big gap in their range, and has been for a while.
An A700 with live-view and a spec to match the Canon 7D or Nikon D300 is badly needed, or an A900 full frame with live-view, so that we wildlife togs can crop without losing too much quality.

Posted on: New Nikkor super telephoto zoom lens
Yeah, no doubt it's a fantastic lens but it is possible to buy a new car for less than the price of this lens.
When you think of all the materials and labour that goes into making a car, it does seem crazy that a camera lens, which is tiny in comparison, costs more to make?, I just can't see that personally.
It's all getting a bit silly if you ask me and the more people that are willing to pay these high prices, the worse it's going to get for all of us.
I'd love to see what the profit margin is regarding these top end lenses.

Posted on: Responsive new DSLR cameras from Sony
Well done Sony, some nice features in these cameras.
Still not quite what I've been waiting for as an upgrade for my A350 though but you're getting there slowly.
The lower end of the market is sorted now as is the top end with the full frame models, now all that's left is the one I want to see, the A700 replacement and after reading the specifications on these intermediate cameras I'm very hopeful that the A750? will be a stunner.
Interesting times ahead I reckon

Posted on: Fully-featured shooting made fun for everyone
Well, ok, all Sony has done here is to widen their foundations so let's hope that they start laying some bricks soon.
Granted the A900 is a great piece of kit but it doesn't have live-view and being a spectacle-wearer (vari-focals) I never thought I'd say this but I find it really useful for low-down landscape and macro work.
It's time Sony brought out an A700 replacement with low noise at higher ISOs, a decent frame rate, live-view and an optical spirit level like Nikon has, in fact, a Nikon D300 with a Sony mount would do me just fine lol, so come on Sony, show em what you can do

Posted on: The A700 is here
Looks like a brilliant camera, looking forward to seeing it tested against the opposition.
ISO 50 and "live view" would've been great for landscapes though, I wear vari-focals and can't see through my viewfinder when my camera is low to the ground, but hey, can't have everything I suppose.
Well done Sony.
