I had the 70-200 lens on for some flight shots when I noticed this puffin all on it's own with a lovely background, I couldn't get any closer so I took the shot anyway, it's a bit wider than I'd normally have taken it but at least it shows more of it's habitat this way.

It's not always easy to isolate one Puffin like this, they tend to gather in small groups and there always seems to be one or two in the way but luckily I managed it this time.

Almost full frame, just a very slight crop evenly off both the top and right hand side.

Hand held.

You don't need to get closer, this is fine. Well, a closer one in addition perhaps, for some variety.
No, it's good to give the bird some space (sharp beaks!) and show some of the environment.

A fine shot of this puffin perched precariously on the cliff edge, I like the fact that you've placed it in a wider context
