Male Blackcap

By geoffrey baker
Look what turned up at my feeding station this week, well 2 males appeared actually.
I've lived here for almost 18 years and this is the first time I've seen these in this area.

I had to quickly set up my camera and shoot this through the double glazing which due to all that bitterly cold weather we've had recently wasn't as clean as it usually is, but at least I got the shot.

I put the 1.7x converter on and stood well back from the window so I wouldn't spook him.

Sometimes, just getting the shot is worthwhile, even at the expense of technical excellence. However, you have managed to capture a first class image of this beautiful little chap. Did you manage to keep calm or was the blood pumping with the excitement of seeing the blackcap and the anxiety of wondering if he would stay put long enough for you to capture his image?

Lovely shot and a pleasure to see.

Thanks both,

I must admit I was very anxious until I got at least one shot on my card, this was the very last one I took, it showed up for a few seconds the following morning (Tuesday) but I haven't seen it since.

Great clean, sharp image, especially as it was taken through glass.
I saw one yesterday but couldn't get a shot through the branches.

A shot to be proud of Geoff, have to be very honest and say if you had not told us this was taken through glass I would not have known, the detail on the feathers is excellent the eye is sharp and the background perfect.
