Really love the hills in the background - the sky is a bit boring, but that is the way many skies are and you would not sit out there waiting for a better one - could take months.
Perhaps a little more processing on the mid and foreground (seems a little bright and flat) would have added more depth to the scene.
Still a nicely composed and taken image - Cheers Andy

Hi Andy,
I used a CP to get rid of any scatter in the sky and enhance the contrast between sky and hills. Normally I agree with the boringness of the plain blue sky but after spending 2 years here in northern China, seeing clear blue sky was a real treat for me.
I did take the mid and foreground down a couple fractions of a stop and adjusted curves for contrast, however, the composition I had in mind was the large cactus in foreground left and the hills contrasted with the sky. I selectively sharpened parts of the hills and the cactus to provide some depth. The processing I did pretty much adjusts the image for what I saw through the viewfinder except that I had to crop a lot of sky and some foreground out to get what I wanted in this shot.
It was really good to go back to the southwestern USA where I had spent many years and see the desert again.
Thanks for the comments and I'll play with the mid and foreground a little to see if I can improve it.
George
