Anchusa azurea

By GeorgePlatis
Anchusa azurea is a species of flowering plant belonging in the family Boraginaceae, known by the common name "Italian bugloss" (or just "bugloss"). Anchusa azurea is a brightly colored spring blooming perennial that offers masses of brilliant true blue flowers with a white center at a time when few other blue flowers are present in the fields. The flowers are presented in loose racemes all along the tall stems in late spring. It is a native plant to Rhodes. Its height is about 50cm.

Today is a "Great Friday" for Orthodox Greece, it is a day of sorrow.. The custom is to collect flowers from everywhere is possible and deliver them to the Church in order to cover Jesus body in "Epitaphio". In this custom young girls are the protagonists to inflower "Epitaphio" for Jesus.

Interesting capture and presented however in my view, isolating the flower from the background will have higher impact. I find some of the white lighter patches a bit distracting. This is my personal taste, you may have a different opinion
