Temple of Apollo

By GeorgePlatis
The Temple of Apollo is located on the only hill of Rhodes town which is the highest spot of town. It is also called Acropolis of Rhodes. Although Acropolis in many other places of the world that inhabited by the Greeks were surrounded by great walls , Rhodes's Acropolis is a singularity. There are no walls around there, only a great complex of buildings that were used as educational schools, buildings for municipal activities and for religious purposes.

A wonderful composition the inclusion of the people in the shot add a great sense of scale an proportion to this mammoth ancient architecture...

Interesting and informative to introduce these two excellent shots: crisp detail and each shot so well composed in it's particular format.
I like the portrait format possibly slightly better as the vertical columns suit this.

Two fab images George - very well composed with the addition of people giving a true sense of the size of the temple and the blue sky contrasts very well with the ruins. Smile
