Lady Chapel St Albans

By ghibby
Shot a month or two ago at St Albans Cathedral.. The light coming in from the main window of the Lady Chapel was fantastic but it was much too contrasty to capture in one exposure. I shot three frames bracket at 2 stops around the metered exposure. Once processed in ACR 5.2 I produced an HDR image from 7 exposures obtained from the three bracketed raw files (-4, -2, -1, 0 +1, +2, +4 stops) using Tone Mapping in Photomatix. I find tone mapped HDR results too artificial looking for my taste so I subsequently created another lower contrast image in Photomatix using exposure blending and then merged these images in Photoshop using masking and multiple blending & adjustment layers to create this image. It still retains the feel of the HDR but I hope with a little more subtlety and a more photographic look to it.

Final adjustment was to correct the slightly converging verticals.
Exposures 0.8, 3.2 & 13 sec @ F8.0 and 24mm Focal length

You worked very hard to get this superb result. I'm afraid some of it is beyond my comprehension.
