Lincoln Cathedral Night

By ghibby
I shot this image at the beginning of 2010. I had taken some shot inside the cathedral but did not get anything strong enough, I was too late for any natural light to illuminate the interior which for me is what makes images of these spaces so magical. I spotted this scene on returning to the car, the illumination from street light near by picked out some detail in the foreground and the movement in the sky would obviously give a nice blur with a long exposure. I had to combine three shots manually in Photoshop for this as the dynamic range was too much for the camera to handle while maintaining max image quality. All major processing work done in Lightroom with layer blending in Photoshop CS5.

Exposures 2.5, 10 and 30 sec @ F11 and 21mm focal length ISO 400
