Environmental portrait of a kingfisher

By gibworth
I had my first experience of kingfishers last week. I found out through a friend that we had them on a couple of local rivers, so took some time away from work to go and see them. It was fantastic just to watch them fish and I was pleased that I managed to get a few shots of them in their natural habitat.

It's a great shot - and lovely to see one in nature rather than the goldfish bowl set-ups that are all the rage but if I may be so bold; I know you'd lose a lot of pixels but I'd crop the right third and bottom two thirds for a more focussed image.

Thanks falsecast. I like having some of the environment but agree that the image could benefit from some cropping. I donít think this image could cope with only a third of the pixels though, but I plan to return with better light conditions/camera and try again.
