tinted rose

By Ginamagnolia
I took a close-up of a pink rose from Asda with my macro lens and used focal black and white to emphasise the centre of the rose.

This is a really attractive image. The Picasa processing does work well in drawing attention to the centre, - and for this shot, a central presentation works well.
The softness has a nice silky appearance, - so a success overall.

It might tolerate a small amount of sharpening in the areas which are intended to be sharp.

Ive loaded a mod with some edges sharpened, and applied a soft diffuse glow to soften even more the overall look. And it deserves a nice frame too.

Great as is though.

Hi Gina, two critisims but no votes? Find that rather strange.
Nice shot !!! Yes there is always something that others can suggest to improve it. At the end of the day are YOU happy with it ??? that is all that matters. You are not showing it to others for approval.
Me.. I love it, it is a photograph. Then what do I know, I have only been taking photographs as a profession for over 40 years. You enjoy your hobby.
I would just like to bring to your attention a quote from one of the truly great photographers.

No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions, and to build confidence in the creative spirit.

My mistake .. your image up for critique, however, comments still stand.... You enjoy your photography, and remember, they are no better than you.

What is the point in putting work up for comment then? I agree with the sentiment about subject - and, if you like it, then who cares. But, the idea of a critique section is surely to learn if you want to.

This is good as it stands. I would usually rant on about sharpness, but not in this case. Very simple and very pleasing.

I enjoy the softness of the rose with the central part shaper. The tones are delicious.
