The Gathering

By gingerdelight
Once again at Rainton Meadows, this was a popular spot on the lake as it was not frozen over! The inhabitants also knew that this is where they would be fed, hence the "verbal" little drake centre bottom!

I am enoying viewing all the snowy scenes on here but I do wish the actual weather would now brighten up - we've had enough!

Take care and thank you for your continued support.

Carol

Beautifully composed to include the white of the snow and the swans
surrounded by all those ducks.

Grey dreich weather but images still to be had if you are brave enough to venture out: a nice gathering here, Carol, no doubt all expecting a freebie lunch.

I like the fact that nearly all the ducks have been separated from each other and don't overlap

Very well captured Carol. The ducks and swans appear to form a pattern to me

They really have placed themselves so neatly for you and your camera lens! Strange there are so many more Drakes than Hens. Same here, though it's Pheasants in our case. Hope for the sake of those few females there are actually a load more of them in hiding!!

They're lucky to have some ice free water and you have captured them so well Carol. Those swans are surrounded by the ducks - a bit like my recent postings.Smile

Well, for a change, it's been quite sunny all day here, and has cleared a fair amount of the snow Smile I was going up into town the other day, it was freezing cold and snowy like this, and crossing over the river I noticed quite a few ducks floating about in the water like this, and thought 'how cold their feet must be, why don't they sit on the riverbank?!' Lovely capture, Carol Smile

Hard time for them too Carol. In my home town [Spain] there are lots of ducks and everybody feed them through out the year
Lovely composition, nice one.

A lovely gathering and I agree with you the first and second day for me was great I got some lovely images but having to walk 6 miles a day to work is now getting on my nerves. I usually cycle but I won't attempt it at the moment.
All friends together, lovely shot Carol. Went out in the car yesterday for heavy shopping and got stuck at the bottom of my road....

If you don't get a let up in your weather soon Carol, they'll have quite a task finding open water, you feel so sorry for them when that happens, meantime this is a charming image with an appropriate title!
Rgds., Jim
