Rood Ashton Hall

By GlynnisFrith
This is the Rood Ashton Hall 4965 heading for York taken at Colton Junction, we were very lucky just before this arrived we had the pleasure of seeing the Bittern on the other main line track also heading for York.

Plus in between these two super engines there was an old diesel engine but not sure which one, so there were lots of anaracks there today to catch a view of them

Tech 1/250s, f8 iso 320

I have just clicked on Tony's too Glynnis..these are wonderful shots, I love steam trains. This reminds me of an old postcard..the sky is just that shade of turquoise, full of nostalgia.

Lovely angle on the train, has it really hurtling towards us. I'm curious as to whether you've done anything to the steam, it has a very crisply delineated look.

I did have to to darken the steam with the dodge tool because it was over exposed, the sun not been in the right position to give it the best exposure & the sky was burnt out so I put a graduated filter on in PS that was a first for me but I thought it worked quite well

thanks to all

I like this a lot, Glynnis, the livery on the carriages suggests not just another era but the era before that. Beautifully done.

My 'dodges' always turn out a bit iffy too so I leave them alone now !
