Cold day at the pond

By Gomez
Taken on Saturday, prior to an early (very!) Christmas dinner with friends (Mr and Mrs Assyrian!), whilst walking around our local coarse fishing pond / reservoir.

It was fairly chilly, the sun was just dropping of the horizon and a mist was lifting off the water.

B&W taken 'in camera'.

ISO 100 (honest!!), 1/15th sec (hand held!), f/13, circular polarizer (cokin A) and a pinch of timing / luck!

Works well in mono and you definitely got the better angle - well done.
It's gotten grainier in upload which is a shame because the original is so sharp and clear, despite the mist!

I think I'd try and bring the mist out a little more, but this gets a vote for being dark and gloomy, but in an eerie way, which I find it fascinating.

Did a good job there sir! I remember the other side - kids exploding petrol in a fire off to the left, more kids jumping on the ice in the middle of the pond Wyle E Coyote style, the distant sounds of scrambler bikes tearing up the undergrowth........ Did we go to Beirut that day?

Ahhh, it all comes flooding back to me...chainsaw or scrambler, chainsaw or scrambler?

I had a lovely time there on the Wednesday - the only sounds I heard were distant birds calling and the click of my shutter!!
