The remnants of the bridge at Poissy France, destroyed by allied bombing on the 26th May 1944 prior to the D Day landings.
Poissy was a busy fishing village and the bridge here spanned the river Seine from the 13th century giving passage across the Seine to merchants taking their goods to markets in Paris. Over the centuries the bridge was rebuilt several times. These Pillars are a stark reminder of the destruction of war in this tranquil scene.
