Love-in-a-Mist

By EAS
Nigella: Love-in-a-Mist

This is the distinctive flower of Love-in-a-Mist, captured with black card behind, then darkened a little in PS. All those in my garden this year are self-seeded and for some reason are not the darker blue I usually associate with this fascinating little flower. Their colour range can be all the way from white to very dark blue, of course.

Thanks to all who have looked in and supported my efforts. I think I am likely to be back to lots of "just clicking" as we are up to our eyes with various important family matters, including George's on/off 2nd hip operation which, fingers crossed, looks at last to be going ahead but at a different hospital.

These flowers fascinate me, and you have presented it beautifully here. I found this on Wikipedia, "The plant's common name comes from the flower being nestled in a ring of multifid, lacy bracts. It's also sometimes called Devil-in-the-Bush."

such a complex little flower yet so very delicate, a joy to have in the garden for the sweet tones and the misty effect it gives.

Wow, fabulous detail in this one Ann Smile Beautiful.
Lovely shot Ann.........we used to have this in our garden, which I absolutely loved, as it did look like a "mist" around the beautiful little flower (ours were dark blue) and they seemed to self seed every year, sadly though not for the last 3 or 4 years. Thank you for making me smile tonight, as it is a lovely flower that I had forgotten about GrinGrinGrin

A truly beautiful wistful flower - there is something so magical about them - mine are pale blue too - I wonder if there is something needed in the soil to make them bluer like hydrangeas? However, this is lovely and set against the black background, stunningGrin
