I have recently acquired an Ilford Prentice and there are two shutter speeds - one is b setting and the other is "i" for instantaneous. Can anyone tell me what speed is i ?
    - my guess id 1/120th but I have seen 1/50th somewhere on the internet

Went there yesterday and what a great place it is. The staff were brilliant, everyone willing to assist in image taking. Only a couple of school parties there, which were easy to work around. Would recommend a visit to any photographer.

As said - "horses for courses". RAW for sports images usually causes problems of speed for most cameras to process.

I have seen some terrific images on here taken at Blists Hill. Is there a good time to go, presumeably when it isn't too busy?
Is it better to go during the week outside of the summer months?

I see the price has come down whilst we speak - a bargin, perhaps.

Will look with interest at how you get on. Thinking of getting the 24 - 70 soon. The 70-200 2.8 VR is brilliant.

I am looking to get one of the Nikon Converters and wonder what people's advice is re TC-20E11 against the TC-14E11. They seem similarly priced with half a stop difference and the 20 has a much bigger magnification.

My advice is to get rid of the D200 - mine was dreadful in challenging light. Up the ISO and there was far too much grain compared with the D300, and dare I say it - film!! With snowboarding, I've tended to pre-focus with telephotos - difficult to predict sometimes - but sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Yes, a mate of mine had trouble with his and Sigma got it sorted. Personally mine has been good value for money, but I really didn't like the results with the D200 in poor light.
