I think anyone who's keen enough to go out in the cold just to take photographs - I know I'm not! - is worthy of commendation.

Furthermore, you have not made things easy for yourself with this photograph. I mean, a backlit snow scene is almost guaranteed to fool your camera's meter. Not only that, the dynamic range has to be too large for its sensor.

When I take architectural photographs without a tilt-shift lens, which, to be honest, is every time I take an architectural photograph, my best friend in Photoshop is the Correct Camera Distortion filter which unconverges verticals.
