This young lady and her older sister danced beautifully for us at one of the hotels at which we stayed in Rajasthan. Their brothers and father accompanied them with some wonderful Rajasthani gypsy music (the father played a Sarangi (a kind string instrument played with a bow), the rest of the familiy played Indian flute and drums). The music and dance were traditional, mesmerising and fascinatingly complex, especially the dancers hand and head movements. The dancers appeared to enjoy themselves as much as we did watching...
We didn't find out until the second night that the hotel didn't pay them, but allowed them to perform for any tips they recieved.
The tips on the second night were much more generous....
