Fluffiing Hummingbird

By gregnboutz
This is a picture I took with a Fujifilm S8100fd about 3-5' away from this bird. I was using a remote shutter with my Canon T2i that was on a tripod when I saw this hummingbird sitting on a branch in a tree. I went and got my point and shoot camera, because my DSLR was in use, and placed it in a sport mode to be prepared for any movement. I slowly closed in on the bird and actually got too close to focus and I had to back up. I was more than surprised that I got as close as I did. I got several pictures of this gray, black, and yellow spotted bird. This picture was after it started to fluff its feathers and changed its total appearance doing it. The gray, black, and yellow spotted bird turned into a rust, gray, white, and black colored bird. Another view of this bird is on www.flickr.com/photos/gregnboutz in the Nature set and you will be able to see what it looked like one minute to the next seeing how it changed its looks.
