Mum look I can do Backstroke

By grinningsoul2011
Location Donna Nook Lincolnshire. Taken Friday 9th Dec, Atlantic Grey Seal Pup enjoying a swim in a pool created by the tidal surge which occured over 26th/27th Nov that sadly drowned and washed out to sea so many pups.Sad

This pool was just feet from the fence of the viewing area giving unusual opportunities to capture the seals playing in water without having to go down to the shoreline.Smile

Very well exposed capture Janet. Just not too sure about the right hand side of the pup it keeps drawing my eye away from the face trying to work out whats happening. I reckon you could crop to just behind the flipper and enlarge slightly. Still though a great capture and nicely detailed. Great to have met you that day and thanks for your knowledge of DN.

Richard thanks for your suggestion, I couldn`t decide whether to crop or not for the same reason. I will mess about with it and see how it turns out. Still working through my images trying to find some more unusual ones to post. Was lovely to meet you all it would be great to meet up again sometime for another photography day.

You obviously put your local knowledge to good use to find this pool Janet. Most of the seals I saw were flopping on the mud banks !!!Grin Its a lovey shot however and the water ripples/wavelets create an excellent BG.
Thanks for your help and assistance on the w/e. You are very kind.
Happy Christmas to you

Delightful image with lovely light, movement and detail, Janet. It was so good meeting you at donna Nook and thank you so much for all your help and brilliant local knowledge Smile Would love to meet up again in the not too distant future - a nice crisp dry couple of days with the seals in early Jan springs to mind but we are in the hands of the weatherman!!
Ron and Sylvia, thank you for your lovely words glad you found my ramblings of use it was fun to share my knowledge, and great to put faces to names.

I must admit Ron Gibralter Point is one of those funny places you can be tripping over all kinds of bird life one day and then another time nothing and this can be just a week apart, sorry you were unlucky. SadThis time of year I thought you would be in luck, I had been considering going via Gibralter point myself on the way home.

Sylvia I am deffinately up for a day or couple of days over a weekend in early January wx permitting, SmileI haven`t been able to get anymore updates on just how many seals are likely to be left, if I get new information I will let you know. Hope you both have a fantastic Christmas and looking forward to seeing more of your photos.Smile
