This is a wonderful view of the Blue Mosque, with the (unseen) Hagia Sophia behind. This is one of the most beautiful buildings that I have ever seen and experienced. My greatest memory of the Blue Mosque is standing in the very, very large courtyard, and there having a sense of my smallness, of my personal insignificance in the big picture of the world, and of the universe. I had the feeling of this being perhaps the most spiritual space (for this total Jewish non-believer) I have ever been in. And, then there is Istanbul. Perhaps the greatest city in the world. Through history, and even before, the crossroads of humanity.

And, in this photo, for all of the importance of the Blue Mosque in the Islamic world, outside of it, life goes on.
