Butterfly

By handlerstudio
Walking in the Everglades (bicycles being unavailable--my original first preference), I saw far more than I would have riding. And, I had my camera with me, of course. I wanted to isolate, and show this butterfly. The long focal length let me throw the background out of focus.

You've caught the butterfly beautifully! The colours and details are fantastic.

I think I would crop this image tighter to the butterfly - the background, although blurred, is 'empty' and busy. I would take off the left, right and a little off the bottom. Smile

Its a beautiful shot. The background is very nicely out of focus, and the butterfly is sharp.

Composition can sometimes be improved if the subject is cropped off centre, - a personal opinion, the mod has this dome.

There is a slight colour cast, - I find its not uncommon with Olympus with jpegs, - they seem to be a little warm. I have corrected this also in the mod, - and applied a little sharpening.

Good work,

regards

You have done rather well here with equipment to hand. I would prefer a tighter crop and, whilst sharpness is quite good, the far wing is slightly sharper than the near one. Not toomuch of a problem, but f16 would be nice. That would cause exposure/shake problems though, so you choice is probably right.
