Perhaps the most dramatic flower of early Spring here in Philadelphia is the magnolia. The soft pink or white flowers explode from the tree, flowers before the leaves, bask in their beauty for a few days, then cover the ground beneath the tree with its soft petals. In its brief moment, great beauty and abundance. Again, as with the cherry photo I last uploaded, the single flower for me has great appeal. And I love to see the whole tree loaded with color....an expression of the exuberance of life bursting out in the Spring.
