I think your picture is well observed, with lovely colour and a good level of sharpness and detail. I know the position on the thirds thing is a bit of a cliche, visually, but it does work pretty well and by positioning your main subject so that the centre of it was on the thirds I think the composition is stronger. Although I like out of focus areas in pictures generally, the area behind the main subject doesn't add a lot for me - a wider aperture could have isolated the main subject with out of focus before and behind and this might have been interesting and worked well. Well done for getting so low on a wet beach! Hope you didn't get caught out by a wave - never good for equipment.

You like your beach. This is rather better as the subject is more interesting and fills the frame better. Might have offset it to the left a bit when taking for a less central composition. Depth of field blurs background OK I think.
