Small,Small and Smallest

By handlerstudio
While on one of my bike rides just outside of Cape May, I passed this driveway, and had to stop and shoot what I saw. Clearly a family that likes small cars...Smart, a Fiat and a very old, VERY small BMW. Make sure to get to V5.

Amazing! The land of extremes, a great find. I love V3 and V4, the front and rear views of that fascinating car. I also wonder what lies there under the cover. He must be a collector, as there are more cars in the garage.

I had a Bubble Car, this is what we called them in the UK Peter, they were great fun but so unreliable, had it for about two years then give it up for scrap, they are worth a fortune now.

But then, Trev, was Britain also famous (or read notorious) for all those cars, many of them classics, with Lucas electrical systems?

Take your point Peter, also had a 1953 Buick Roadmaster, years ahead of British technology at this time.

I remember someone at my infant school being delivered by her mum in one of those BMWs. There was a Messerschmitt competitor that looked like the cockpit from a Bf109 on three wheels - one of my grammar school friends had one, which he drove round the ground floor corridor, once. I think he was aiming to induce apoplexy in the maths teacher...

I have to say that the group probably isn't complete without a Citroen 2CV (bigger, but utterly... French) and a proper, Issigonis-designed Mini, which is THE masterpiece in terms of space utilisation (and driveability!)

But you can only work with what you see, and I imagine the other two are as rare in the US as the Fiats and bubble cars...
