The Tenacity of Life, Continued

By handlerstudio
Continuing yesterday's theme of how life clings to whatever it can....This large boulder is just off the not very good dirt road that goes down to our friends' house. And this tree grows, seemingly, right out of the granite. In the lush Northeast US we see life clinging to rocks with almost no soil, just as we see life in the desert, or in thermal vents at the bottom of the ocean.

V2 is a different view of the same subject.

Thanks for your votes on the tree on the rock yesterday.

It is amazing how things will grow on almost anything. Lovely illustration of that in these images.

Two fantastic pictorial examples of life against all odds... For me image number two is the stronger, beautiful lush crisp green hues...

Is it just me, or was there a problem with the upload of V1, perhaps I'm missing something, there appears to be a Perspex type object over most of the image apart from the top inch or so.

However, life clinging on is a great concept and a fantastic subject to cover, V2 has to be my favourite only because of what I mentioned above.

For some reason, that problem with V1 appears only when viewed large.

Prefer the unaltered, as shot, V2 to the rather odd as-uploaded V1.

Add the original, intended V1 as a further variant?

Hi Peter, I had trouble seeing V1 (either large or small). I like V2 more! Love the texture of the moss...I would've had a feast taking pics of that...

Lush is a perfect word for this environment--- and being Maine--- It all grows a quickly as it can, befor the next great dump of snow!

I like both images!
