While biking on a side road near the Cape May Canal, I came upon a remarkable scene. There were five Turkey Buzzards all going after the carcass of a dead raccoon. They were fighting over it, but I could not get close enough with the Canon S-200 to capture them all. They flew off, perched on nearby trees and a roof, but only a couple came back for more, and I captured what I could with the telephoto I had. The image quality is not so great, but the image of these rather ugly and rather necessary birds, the "garbagemen" that scavenge and help clean up dead animals, was too much to leave. I got what I could, and have in my minds eye the image of five on the dead raccoon.
Back from my sailing trip, with many photos to show a bit later, and off on Thursday to a craft show for the weekend. Opera tomorrow, so I may not get to my computer late. It is pretty late now, so my apologies for not having the time to go over many of the images of you, my friends. If not tomorrow, I'll be back next Monday.
