Vinalhaven Harbor with Lobster Pots

By handlerstudio
The food most identified with Maine is lobster, and Vinalhaven is said to be the lobster capital of Maine. All the boats in both of these photos are workboats---lobster boats. Time was, in Maine, that they were only allowed to feed lobster to prisoners no more than three times a week. More was considered cruel and unusual punishment. Friends we visited by kayak talk about putting a sign up on their dock when they want lobsters, and how many, and the lobstermen would put them in a cage in the water at $2 apiece.

And, thank you Marian (Potra) for your UA for yesterday's marsh photo.

Peter

Like the idea of using the pots as natural frame to bring more focus to the fishing boats. Same idea but a portrait shot may bring more balance to two subjects in the photo, the lobster pots and boats. Right now, there emphasis is too much on the pots. Grin
