winter in Wisconsin #6

By handlerstudio
Visiting old friends in Algoma Wisconsin we visited a wind farm, perhaps a bit too close to their home. After the second photo of the wind farm, I will finish the Wisconsin series with a color and monochrome photo of a few ice fishermen on Lake Mendota, in Madison.

Thanks for all the feedback and votes on these images.

Unfortunately, I woke up this morning having probably slept in a wrong position, and my left hip has been hurting all day, making sitting (as I am doing now, and need to do to look at photos) most uncomfortable. Bed beckons. Be back with time tomorrow.

These wind farms are changing the landscapes of the world. Sad really. Sorry to hear about your hip. Get well soon.

They may be changing landscapes, Colleen, but I think we cannot afford not to be doing this. We cannot keep burning fossil fuels. Just, they need to not be close to where people live. Farms, mountains, ocean.

Hmm, a very contentious subject, Peter.
There are many alternatives to gathering energy - but this is not the place to discuss that..!
It is the place to discuss your fine photography, which all of these images are -
- especially V3 & 4, the ice fishermen, which I found fascinating.
Dedicated folk - for pleasure or profit, I wonder?

Great set of images. This looks like the exact same scenery in a small town called Shelborne (Ontario)Just 40 minutes north of Brampton. I have counted as many as 67 of these wind mills. They sure do change the country side scenery. You have captured them well. I also love love love the ice fishing ones as well v3 is my favorite pick. Great job. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Nice set. I like the alignment of those windmills.

We have them near here too - with more and bigger versions to come.
They've been here six years but are not joined up to the grid!
Fortunately, Not In My Backyard as they are the other side of the mountain so far.
Took part in the route planning consultation for supply to sub station so helped mitigate the worst of the impact of that for everyone.

Sorry to hear about hip, Peter.
Thanks for the fine images today.
Four great captures with V2 my choice. Well done Peter.

Until we start to discuss energy issues here (and in church, in the pub, in the office) the world is heading for overheating too rapidly...

I've already contrasted wind turbines with the alternative once today (see this and this !) - who, really, wants the pollution and global warming that conventional power stations give?

We should palce them sensitively - but accept wind farms as part of our landscape.

We need wind farms, they are just one part of the solution. Most people are too short sighted and selfish, they can't see energy security and self sufficency - I would cut their electricity supply off and then see what they do GrinGrin
I particularly like V2, very strong.
I don't fancy sitting on the ice, fishing. But then they probably wouldn't like carrying camera gear around Smile

V1 and V2 are perfect as compositions I particulary like the linear look of V2.
V3 and V4 are very candid captures, and in this case I'll go for the colour...
Very nice work!
