Brown Praying Mantis = male 3+ inches

A friendly insect, I found him hanging around in a conifer----- he has since disappeared. There was a female around.......

No wonder Trevor wants to buy that camera,
You certainly know how to make the most of it with
one fantastic image after another.
Superb macro.
What a great shot, Jenn. As I found with my brown preying mantis a week or so ago, they always look at the lens, with a look of great intelligence. But this, what an image, a great macro portrait. I am jealous.

The colours are irresistible, but the important thing for me is the composition/low viewpoint/angle. The way the antennae explore the top of the frame. My picture of the day - already!

Absolutely awesome portrait Jenn, it is really sweet and cool at the same time, just like Santa Teresas are. In Venezuela, the indigenous name is "cerbatana".
Spectacular shot.
