Predator

By handlerstudio
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Stepped out to the back of my house yesterday, on the back walk, and there was a wasp trying to capture a grub or caterpillar, not sure what it was...many times the size of the wasp....trying to drag it to its hole on the edge of the walk, stinging it....and finally gave up. Had to go back and get me telephoto lens...with the subject being a wasp, not wanting to get too close. The drama lasted about ten minutes till the wasp finally gave up. A little gruesome.

And, sincere thanks to Ron (rontear), David (cymru2019), Becky (beckybookin's), and John (Johnke) for their UAs for my spider photos.

A beautiful set of images of the brutality of survival in nature, should be a reminder that we are part of nature and have the same survival instincts and should recognize that our politicians, our problems with racism, wars, etc., etc., are part of our nature and will ultimately destroy us with our rising accumulation of weapons of mass destruction and destroying the environment we live in. (Sorry, my rant for the day.)

I acknowledge the risk Francis sets out. But I want to quote a British politician, a Jewish man who led the Labour Party before Jeremy Corbyn... He repeated, through a party conference speech, 'We're better than that.'

Whether we really are, I'm unsure: but we can certainly aspire to being so.

We need to be. The tyrant quoted Churchill today and compared himself to him. I am sure, during the war, that he made untrue statements....and that essentially, he was a straight shooter who told the British people what they needed to hear, not what they wanted to hear.

Ow ...my daughter got stung on the bum last week while driving a beveridge cart on the golf course ,
she can attest it hurts like hell !
Her story did boost the amount tipped from customers afterward though. No advantage for the grub in that regard !
Fine macto work Peter
Best regards

Churchill said something about democracy being the worst possible system - except for all the others. I'm sure the orange one would not agree - he seems to like dictators and dictatorships.

And Churchill is possibly best known for his initial promise as Prime Minister - 'I have nothing to offer except blood, sweat, tears and toil.' A different approach. He was also gracious in giving credit to others, in his other best-known quotation - 'Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few.'

Possibly his last speech - to a school - is worth quoting in its entirety, too 'Never give up. Never give up. Never give up.'
